Valve announces the format of The International 2025

The company has revealed the tournament format for Dota 2’s main event in 2025.

The developers have decided to introduce changes to the tournament structure compared to previous TIs. This year, The Road to The International, featuring 16 teams, will follow a Swiss system with best-of-3 matches.

Three teams with four wins will qualify for The International, while three teams with four losses will be eliminated from the competition. The remaining ten teams will enter a special stage, where the strongest will face the weakest. Based on the results, five teams will advance, and five will be knocked out of the tournament.

The Road to The International will take place from September 4 to 7, while The International will kick off on September 11 and conclude with the grand final on September 14.

As a reminder, the tournament will be held in Hamburg.
